As the year comes to it’s end…

I look back in wonder. 2018 has been a fun year with lots of changes. The Retreat on Denman Island with Maria Shell was a highlight as it was full of old friends and new friends, creativity, nature, artistic breakthroughs, really good food and super-talent!

The past year was full of lovely people and creative workshops. I taught classes in Whistler, North Vancouver, Toronto, Tsawwassen and Lions Bay. I moved to a new city and found a great job with the best employer. I have a house and yard to take care of – and that is a big job. I’ve made new friends and had visits with many old friends, I’ve finished some quilts and I’m learning to paint. I did a five day painting workshop with Michael Shemchuck – and it really got me going on a path of freedom and creative exploration, and another class with Dennis Brown showed me new directions. These guys are both great teachers. There is so much to learn and so much to do!

TheĀ BIG NEWS for 2019 – is that I have leased a space in downtown Nanaimo, right behind the best art supply store on the island in a beautiful brick heritage building, and along with my friend Kathy will be opening a sewing lounge. We will teach sewing workshops – my specialty is quilt making of course, and I’m also a bit of a bag lady, and Kathy teaches clothing and all things for your home, with a history in Home Ec and interior design. I can’t wait to start making all my clothes with her able instruction. We’ll be set up and ready to roll early in 2019 with work tables, sewing machines and all the tools and supplies for the projects we will teach. We are excited to be planning our new project – and will keep you posted.
